The loop is approximately 267kms of beautiful wintry terrain on the Ottawa Valley Recreation Trail, crisscrossing the Mississippi River in Carleton Place, Almonte and Pakenham, before heading north to the Ottawa Valley and then looping south through North Frontenac's hilly Canadian Shield territory.
